This Toll Road In Makassar Was Built Without Land Acquisition

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has built 2,816 kilometers (km) of toll roads spread throughout Indonesia, including one of which is in Eastern Indonesia. In toll road construction projects, land acquisition is usually needed.

However, it turns out that there are toll roads in Indonesia that are built without land acquisition, namely the Pettarani Andi Pangeran (AP) Flyover Toll Road. Quoting the information from the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of PUPR, the AP Pettarani Flyover Toll Road, also known as the Ujung Pandang Toll Road Section 3, is located in Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

This 4.3 km toll road further increases the capacity of roads in the metropolitan urban area in Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

"The AP Pettarani flyover, which has no problems with land acquisition, also provides convenience in community mobility, unraveling congestion, distributing goods and logistics as well as optimizing the function of toll roads in Makassar City that connect economic points, access to airports, ports, industrial areas to offices," wrote BPJT statement, quoted Monday, March 18.

Therefore, the operation of the first flyover toll road in Eastern Indonesia is expected to be one solution to unravel the traffic jams that have occurred so far on arterial roads around the Panakkukang and Rappocini areas.

In addition, the Pettarani AP Flyover Toll Road, which is one of the flyovers in Eastern Indonesia, is also the latest icon to decorate Makassar City.

This toll road connects the southern part of Makassar City with Soekarno Hatta Port, Makassar New Port, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport and the southern coast of South Sulawesi.

The construction of the AP Pettarani Flyover Toll Road in Makassar is one example of the contribution of the private sector in national infrastructure development. PT Marga Utama Nusantara (MUN) through its subsidiary PT Makassar Metro Network (MNN) together with local governments which are also supported by the central government to initiate this development to support the economic and mobility system in the area.

The construction of the Pettarani Flyover Road itself involves the main contractors PT Wijaya Karya Tbk or WIKA and Nippon Koei Co Ltd. Then, PT Indokoei International and PT Cipta Strada as supervision consultants and PT Virama Karya as independent quality control consultants.

The construction began in 2018 and is the end of the Section 2 toll road, precisely at the intersection of Jl. Urip Sumoharjo passes through the intersection of Jl. Boulevard Panakkukang, Jl. Hertasning and ends before the intersection of Jl. Sultan Alauddin.

The AP Pettarani flyover road project which was built uses an investment fee of IDR 2.24 trillion on the existing national road median AP Pettarani without land acquisition, as connectivity to and from Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Soekarno-Hatta Port and Makassar New Port plan and Makassar City Center.
