JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir inaugurated the Modern Culinary Area of Lambuang Station in Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra.

"All parties must collaborate with various parties to build the City of Bukittinggi, one of which is the Culinary Center of Lambuang Station," said Erick Thohir quoting Antara.

The Minister of SOEs said that after the COVID-19 pandemic, Bukittinggi must be able to revive the economic and tourism sectors. To make this happen, local governments need to collaborate with many parties.

"Everyone must be able to collaborate to ensure that the City of Bukittinggi becomes a tourist destination," said Erick Thohir.

On that occasion, Erick Thohir said that in advancing tourism and the economy of an area there are four key factors.

First, support for a beautiful landscape, a culture that is friendly to local people in welcoming tourists, culinary delights to adequate infrastructure support.

Especially for West Sumatra, he continued, including areas that have been received at the global level. This is evidenced by the large number of Padang restaurants in various countries.

Meanwhile, Member of Commission VI DPR RI, one of whom is in charge of BUMN Andre Rosiade, said the Culinary Center of Lambuang City Bukittinggi Station is proof of cooperation, and collaboration between local governments and the DPR RI, the central government and other related parties.

"This is proof of the acceleration of West Sumatra's development by collaborating with various parties," he said.

He assessed that the Mayor of Bukittinggi Erman Safar managed to turn the former train station into the largest culinary center in Minang.

"We hope that this culinary center will increase the original revenue of the Bukittinggi area and contribute to the national economy," said Andre.

Finally, Andre hopes that the Minister of SOEs will help convince PT KAI to lease the station's land for the next 10 years as a culinary center. Because, currently PT KAI has only rented out five years.

In line with that, the Mayor of Bukittinggi Erman Safar said that the management of Lambuang Station carries an integrated culinary tourism concept.

"Bukittinggi wants to absorb more tourists from various regions to Bukittinggi through culinary," he said.
