DENPASAR - Member of the Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD) Made Mangku Pastika is of the view that the touch of stories or narratives related to coffee and concoctions will make the coffee shop business more promising because the products sold are more expensive.

"Coffeees sold with a touch of stories and smiles will certainly give a different impression to consumers. Moreover, Bali as a tourism area, what we sell is services," said Pastika as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 3.

Pastika held a recess meeting with Ida Bagus Anom Surya, one of the coffee shop entrepreneurs with the Coffee Secret's flag located on Jalan Drupadi, Denpasar City, which has been established 12 years ago.

"The Balinese economy must continue to move. If coffee shops are increasingly selling well in the midst of their promising business, of course, it is also closely related to our coffee farmers who are also more prosperous," said the Governor of Bali for the 2008-2018 period.

According to Pastika, coffee grown in a number of areas in Bali has their own privileges. He gave an example of Arabica coffee from Kintamani, Bangli Regency has a unique taste with an orange aroma. This is due to the habit of local farmers planting orange plants on land near coffee plantations.

Apart from Kintamani, other Bali coffee-producing areas are in the Banyuatis-Buleleng Regency, Pupuan- Tabanan Regency, and Petang in Badung Regency.

Pastika added, in the midst of the proliferation of the coffee shop business, innovation and creativity are needed which are differentiable or special between coffee shops and others, which in the end consumers will not turn their hearts.

The importance of a story or narrative, said Pastika, can also be seen from the collectors of paintings or painting museum owners who are actually more prosperous than their own painters. "That's because they are good at giving stories to tourists who come," he said again.

Ida Bagus Anom Surya, as the Coffee Secret's Manager, said that the coffee shop business was initiated by Satriawan Yasa who is also Anom Surya's nephew.

Satriawan Yasa, a machine engineering graduate from Gadjah Mada University, initially tried to mix his own coffee and then decided to open a coffee shop business in 2012.

Coffee Secrets provides a variety of food and beverage menus. In addition, the Coffee Secret's atmosphere is very calm and comfortable, even though its location is located on the side of the road. Visitors will not hear the noise of vehicles from the highway.

Anom Surya said that all of the coffee used in this shop is local Indonesian coffee, such as Aceh gayo coffee, mintamani bali coffee, toraja kalisi, bajawa flores, and pupuan lipa coffee.

In addition, this coffee shop is also now selling a number of souvenir knick-knacks.

Even though he is now increasingly mushrooming the coffee shop business in Denpasar City, he admits that he is lucky that there are still loyal consumers, even in one day he can come up to three times.

"Those who come here are students and employees. Students don't just come to drink coffee, but also feel at home here for a long time while eating and doing campus assignments comfortably," said Anom Surya.
