BRI Sustainable Financing Portfolio Reaches IDR 777 Trillion

JAKARTA - The commitment of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) in the implementation of ESG is reflected in the sustainable financing portfolio at the end of December 2023 which reached IDR 777.3 trillion, or equivalent to 67.1 percent of the total credit disbursed and ESG-based corporate securities investment.

BRI's Director of Compliance A. Solichin Lutfiyanto said, as in previous years, the majority of continued lending remained distributed to the MSME sector worth Rp. 690.4 trillion, followed by financing to the green sector worth Rp. 82.3 trillion, consisting of lending to the management sector of biological natural resources and the use of environmentally friendly land worth Rp. 52.8 trillion, green transportation of Rp. 11.2 trillion, renewable energy of Rp. 6 trillion, and other environmentally-minded Business Activities (KUBL) sectors of Rp. 12.2 trillion.

"This continuous credit distribution recorded a double digit growth of 11.2 percent on an annual basis (yoy)," he said in a statement to the media, Tuesday, February 6.

Furthermore, Solichin added, apart from being in the form of lending to the sustainable sector, BRI also invested ESG-based securities. Until the end of 2023, BRI recorded an investment portfolio of ESG-based corporate securities of IDR 4.54 trillion.
