Oil And Gas For Export Domination For West Papua Up To 99.13 Percent

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the realization of exports of West Papua Province was dominated by oil and gas (oil and gas) commodities worth US$313.46 million or 99.13 percent of total exports of US$316.21 million in December 2023.

West Papua exports were carried out through Bintuni Bay Port 99.13 percent (USD 313.46 million), Sorong Port 0.36 percent (1.14 million US dollars), Manokwari Port 0.16 percent (USD 0.50 million), and Sorong DEO Airport 0.06 percent (USD 0.20 million).

In addition, Tanjung Perak Port 0.14 percent (US $ 0.46 million), Tanjung Priok 0.11 percent (US $ 0.35 million), Jayapura Port 0.03 percent, and Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"99.71 percent of export commodity shipments are made through ports and airports in West Papua and Southwest Papua," said Head of BPS West Papua Merry in Manokwari, Saturday, February 3.

"The realization of non-oil and gas exports contributed 0.83 percent of the total exports or 2.75 million US dollars," added Merry, quoted from ANTARA.

According to him, oil and gas exports experienced a growth of 3.50 percent (yoy) compared to the conditions in December 2022, and grew 33.57 percent (mtm) compared to November 2023.

Similar to the export performance of non-oil and gas commodities that were able to grow 23.62 percent (yoy) on an annual basis, and monthly increased to 86.22 percent (mtm).

"Oil and gas exports and non-oil and gas have experienced positive growth on an annual and monthly basis," said Merry.

He said there were three largest export destinations for West Papua in December 2023, namely China 69.37 percent (219.35 million US dollars), Japan 13.31 percent (42.07 million US dollars), and South Korea 12.28 percent (38.83 million US dollars).

Exports of oil and gas commodities from West Papua were also sent to a number of other countries such as Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Greece.

"West Papua's exports to countries in Asia reached 95.37 percent (301.56 million US dollars), America 4.44 percent (14.06 million US dollars), and others," said Merry.
