JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono ensured that a number of Yogyakarta-Solo toll roads could be crossed during the 2024 Eid holiday season.

The Kartasura-Klaten section can be used functionally for 22.3 kilometers (km). Meanwhile, the Klaten-Purwomartani section along 3 km out of a total of 20 km is targeted to be ready to support this year's Eid homecoming flow.

"Overall, the Kartosuro-Klaten section for 22.3 km is complete in July 2024. Meanwhile, the 20-km Klaten-Purwomartani segment is targeted to be completed by the end of September 2024," Minister Basuki said in a written statement received by VOI, Monday, January 22.

Minister Basuki said the construction of the Yogyakarta-Solo toll road would increase connectivity between the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Central Java Provinces.

"The Yogyakarta-Solo Toll Road will be connected to the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road and with the Semarang-Solo Toll Road. So, it will form a golden triangle of economic growth in the Jogja, Solo and Semarang (Joglosemar) areas," he said.

The Kartasura-Klaten section construction is targeted to be completed 100 percent by July 2024 and the 20 km Klaten-Purwomartani section is completed by the end of December 2024.

Basuki also continues to encourage the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) of PT Jogja Solo Marga Makmur to accelerate the completion of the Toll Road construction from Kartosuro to Yogyakarta which will be part of the Trans Java Toll Network System.

Later, the presence of this toll road will reduce the burden on the Yogyakarta-Solo national road, which is currently often in traffic jams, especially towards tourism destinations along the corridor, such as Prambanan Temple.

In addition, it can also cut the travel time from Yogya to Solo and vice versa and to Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulonprogo.

For your information, the Solo-Yogyakarta toll road to NYIA Kulonprogo as a whole has a length of 96.57 km. This toll road consists of 3 sections, namely Section 1 Solo-Klaten-Purwomartani (42.3 km), Section 2 Purwomartani-Monjali-Sleman (16 km) and Section 3 Gamping-Kulonprogo (38.57 km).
