JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported an increase in the electrification ratio from the previous 99.67 percent in 2022 to 99.78 percent in 2023.

For this reason, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources targets the electrification ratio to be 100 percent by 2024.

"We are trying to meet the electricity needs. The target is 100 percent expected to be completed by 2024," said the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources at the 2023 ESDM Sector Achievement Press Conference and Work Program in 2024, at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Monday, January 15.

To provide access to electricity, Arifin said that his party will continue to identify areas that are not affordable in remote areas and have not been reached by electricity supply.

"Our realization is only 99.78 percent, only 0.22 percent needs to be completed by 2024," continued Arifin.

Arifin detailed that the projected households without electricity were recorded at 185,662 households with villages that had not yet been electrified as many as 140 villages. On the same occasion Arifin also explained the number of villages that had not yet been electrified, including: - Southwest Papua 12 Villages- Papua 9 Villages- Papua Mountains 56 Villages-Central Papua 47 Villages-South Papua 16 Villages

Arifin also emphasized that his party will continue to boost electricity consumption per capita. It is recorded that in 2023 electricity consumption per capita will reach 1,285 kWh. Meanwhile, for 2024, it targets 1,408 kWh per capita. This figure is obtained from the increasing demand trend.

"The government is also trying to optimize domestic electricity transmission so that it can streamline power generation operations so that they can produce lower BPP (provision cost) costs," concluded Arifin.
