JAKARTA - The government has not made the construction of the Trans Kalimantan gas network a priority. This is because there are several things that are still the interest of government development, especially the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Director of Planning and Development of Oil and Gas Infrastructure of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Laode Sulaeman said that currently, his party is still in the process of building the second phase of Cirebon-Semarang, the Batang-Kandang Haur Timur section which will only start in June this year. The costs disbursed for this project are R3.34 trillion, sourced from the APBN.

"Our focus is now to complete our straight line from the tip of the island of Sumatra to the end of Java, namely the transmission pipeline from Aceh to East Java. But this pipe is still broad, namely from Semarang to Indramayu, in Sumatra from Dumai to Sei Mangkei," said Laode quoted Friday, January 12.

It is known that currently the Government has completed the construction of phase I of the Cirebon-Semarang pipeline.

Later, after completing the second phase, it will be continued with the construction of the Dumai-Sei Mangkei pipeline which is expected to be completed in 2027.

Laode further explained that another reason the trans Kalimantan pipeline has not become a priority is because the government still prioritizes the region according to the economic scale and needs.

"So far, Trans Kalimantan has not become PSN, because we are indeed looking at the economic scale, right, the largest need is in Java and Sumatra for gas," explained Laode.

Laode said, after the construction of the Sumatra-Java pipeline was completed, he confirmed that there would be an additional 600,000 gas cylinder recipients in Cisem, while for the Dumai-Sei Mangkei pipe as many as 600,000 SR.

"If it is connected, all gas needs in various locations in various locations in Sumatra and Java can be supplied through this transmission gas pipeline. Likewise, sources around East Java and Aceh that have just been found can pass through this pipe," concluded Laode.
