Realization Of The Capai Election Budget Of IDR 29.9 Trillion In 2023

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported the realization of the 2023 General Election (Pemilu) budget of IDR 29.9 trillion or 98.4 percent of the IDR 30.4 trillion ceiling.

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati, said that the election budget has been realized every year.

In 2022, the budget has been realized at IDR 3.1 trillion, and in 2023 it has only reached IDR 29.9 trillion from a budget ceiling of IDR 30.4 trillion.

Meanwhile, for 2024, the government has prepared a budget of IDR 38.2 trillion.

So that overall the government has allocated a budget for the 2024 General Election of IDR 71.2 trillion.

This budget is given from 2022 to 2024.

"In 2023, IDR 29.9 trillion from the IDR 30.4 trillion budget or 98.4 percent has been realized, next year (2024) we will still budget IDR 38.2 trillion for all election events," he said at a press conference on the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Sri Mulyani explained that the budget used for the General Election Commission (KPU) and the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) amounted to IDR 26.1 trillion for the formation of an adhoc body, regulations for the implementation of elections, management, procurement, reports and logistics documentation.

In addition, the realization of the budget is also used for the nomination of the President and Vice President as well as the nomination of members of the DPR, DPD, Provincial DPRD and Regency/City DPRD.

Sri Mulyani also said that the funds were also for monitoring the campaign period and organizing elections, updating election data and compiling voter lists, determining the number of seats and determining electoral districts, and monitoring logistics.

Then, the 2023 election budget was also channeled through 14 Ministries/Institutions (K/L) amounting to IDR 3.8 trillion.

Sri Mulyani said that the budget was used to fulfill the almatsus supporting the security of the 2024 General Election, securing elections, handling violations of the election organizers' code of ethics, dissemination of information, socialization and coverage related to elections.

Furthermore, these funds are also used to supervise election implementation funds, prepare for holding simultaneous elections, handle disputes over violations of the electoral code of ethics, supervision of ASN neutrality, establishment of election posts, and formulation of national security vulnerabilities policies related to elections.
