OIKN Responds To Mahfud MD Regarding Investors Not Yet Entered IKN: It's A Political Process

JAKARTA - Candidate for Vice President Number 3 Mahfud MD said that none of the investors had invested in the State Capital (IKN).

Mahfud considered that the IKN development only utilized 20 percent of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), while the rest came from private investment.

"So far, we have not seen any investors there. If there are any mentions of one or two investors who entered there. What I heard is that hundreds of thousands of hectares of land have been controlled by certain entrepreneurs," said Mahfud in the Vice Presidential Debate recently.

Responding to this, Deputy for Funding and Investment of the IKN Authority (OIKN) Agung Wicaksono said that it was just a political process that was taking place ahead of the democratic party in 2024.

"For presidential and vice presidential candidates, we are not involved, of course. That is a political process, an ongoing democratic process," Agung said in a virtual press conference, Friday, December 29.

Agung said, there are facts on the ground that have shown the progress of every development at IKN. One of them is Hotel Nusantara, which has now reached around 35 percent progress.

"What we convey today is facts on the ground. The facts on the ground show that the progress of the Nusantara Hotel has been 35 percent and was built without the state budget, this is an investment," he said.

Furthermore, Agung said that the total investment that had entered IKN until the end of 2023 had reached around Rp41 trillion.

"Non-APBN investments reached Rp41 trillion, starting from the first, second and third groundbreakings. Of all the investors, what we want to emphasize is that IKN was built, started and pioneered by domestic investors," he added.
