Erick Thohir Invites Stock Investment Athletes For The Future

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and Chairman of PSSI Erick Thohir reminded all athletes to think about old age rather than promoting lifestyle.

Erick admitted that he did not problem athletes or young people showing a lifestyle because of the success of his career. However, he reminded that the future is much more important.

"It is important to open your mind in the form of investment. So that your life can be better protected for the long term. Lifestyle is important. But it is more important when you are old," Erick said as quoted from his official Instagram @erick.thohir, Sunday, October 29.

For example, said Erick, many athletes who in their heyday were very proud. However, almost 70 percent after no longer being athletes they went bankrupt. In fact, some are homeless.

There is an NBA player named Delonte West. He has a salary of up to Rp240 billion, now he is homeless," he said.

Seeing this condition, Erick admitted that he did not want Indonesian football athletes to experience the same thing, to live a difficult life in retirement. Therefore, Erick also cooperates with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) so that athletes have an understanding of investment.

"To be able to create a healthy ecosystem, we cooperate with the IDX so that all athletes have the knowledge to invest in a decent life after they are no longer players," he said.

On this occasion, Erick also asked the former Indonesian national team striker, Irfan Bachdim, to tell how important the investment is for him. Irfan himself claimed to have an investment in the property sector.

"Because I have now taken a break from football, I have to think about taking care of my family too. But I'm still working on investing. We are building a villa," said Irfan.
