Press Air Pollution, Ministry Of Industry Installs Emission Monitoring Devices In Industrial Concentration Areas

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has installed free air quality monitoring tools in industries that have the potential to cause exhaust emissions. This is done to reduce the occurrence of air pollution in the Jabodetabek area.

The Director General of Resilience, Regional Affairs and Access of the Ministry of Industry, Eko S. A. Cahyanto, said the equipment was installed in several locations until December 2023, according to the inspection team's tenure.

"The Ministry of Industry will install this emission monitoring tool at industrial concentration points. We ask the company's management to provide electricity and Wi-Fi for the installation of this tool so that we can continue to withdraw the data," said Eko in a written statement, quoted on Friday, September 8.

Eko said, after the tool is installed, the data will be directly connected to the existing system in the Ministry of Industry, where this emission monitoring tool can be monitored in real or real time.

Later, from this data, it can be seen the air quality produced by each industry in the DKI Jakarta, Banten, and West Java areas.

According to Eko, there are around 1,025 industrial companies and industrial estate companies in the DKI Jakarta, Banten, and West Java areas that are currently being monitored.

"Of the 1,025 companies, most of them have missiles for production and energy processes. In addition, the company also reports its industrial activities, including conveying critical points that have the potential to cause emissions," said Eko.

Eko assessed that the Ministry of Industry also continues to socialize reporting on emission control, including for industries beyond these priorities, as well as involving industrial associations in order to help socialize this policy to its members.

"For industries that have not made reports, work units at the Ministry of Industry that develop the industry already have a schedule to check and verify in the field," he concluded.

The criteria for installing emission monitoring tools include several aspects that must be met by companies, including each company being required to describe sources of potential contamination related to the resulting emissions.

This includes the number of hinges,impinta coordinates, and production that contribute to emissions. The company is expected to provide data on the number and height of the sink used.

In addition, the company is expected to have a record of emission monitoring data in the form of an emission Test Result Report (LHU) every six months, as well as explaining the location and area of coal storage.
