The Ministry Of PUPR Calls IMS GBK The Largest Indoor Sports Facilities In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements said that the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Jakarta, is one of the largest indoor sports facilities in Indonesia.

This was revealed by the Director of Strategic Infrastructure of the Directorate General of Human Settlements Essy Asiah in the Focus Group Discussion Construction in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 27.

"IMS in GBK is one of the largest indoor sports facilities in Indonesia, which is multifunctional," he said.

Essy said, this IMS was built as a venue for the FIBA Basketball World Cup which will be held on August 25, September-10, 2023.

"The Ministry of PUPR as the supervisor of building regulations and is included in one of the construction actors as a service user, always strives to participate in developing and actively participating in development in Indonesia, including through the construction of GBK IMS," he said.

The Directorate General of Human Settlements itself has completed the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) construction in the Gelora Bung Karno area.

IMS is located in Block 10 of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Senayan area in Jakarta with an area of 30,270 m2 belonging to the Ministry of State Secretariat under the management of the Bung Karno Complex Management Center (PPK-GBK).

The building itself covers an area of 50,398 m2 and is capable of accommodating the audience capacity of 16,523 people.

IMS can not only be used to support basketball, but also for other sports, as well as non-sports activities.

By design, IMS has 5 floors and 1 roof floor with the main function of being a basketball stadium with 1 main field and 2 training fields.

The development of basketball sports infrastructure is part of the government's support for the development of national athletes to achieve more at the international level.
