This Is The Response Of Commission V Of The DPR RI Regarding The Plan For Foreign Vendors To Supervise IKN Development

JAKARTA - Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has held a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the Directorate General of Construction of the Ministry of PUPR at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, today.

In the RDP, a number of members of Commission V DPR RI also commented on the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan who planned to use foreign workers (TKA) in the project to build the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

One of those who commented was Mulyadi, a member of Commission V DPR RI from the Gerindra faction. He was surprised because the IKN development which used the state budget was quite large, but the government plans to use foreign workers to oversee the IKN project.

"I think this is sad, if the need for non-skill quotes must be foreign workers, right, dear," he said at the RDP at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 20.

Currently, the government has allocated a budget of IDR 23.9 trillion from the 2023 State Budget for IKN development projects. Most of these funds are used for infrastructure development.

Mulyadi also suggested that the government should also pay special attention to Indonesian Construction Workers (TKK), such as making training facilities for Indonesian workers.

"If our concentration on the construction of IKN has taken a large budget, it will be the legacy of the president. Perhaps the training center should also be prepared for workers at IKN," he said.

"In the construction building, the river goods can build a camp or school, prepare their human resources so that every necessary need for development and acceleration in IKN can be accelerated," added Mulyadi.

On the same occasion, Chairman of Commission V DPR RI Lasarus said that the government's policy to use foreign workers as IKN project supervisors was a hard slap for the Ministry of PUPR.

This is because it shows that the Directorate General of Construction Development of the Ministry of PUPR has not been able to prepare qualified construction human resources for current development needs.

"If the government's explanation, right, to make sure, is it not certain that the workforce is taken from within the country? I think this is a slap for the Ministry of PUPR and the government has acknowledged that it is monitored there by foreign workers," said Lasarus.

Lasarus even said that the quality of the domestic construction workforce is still being questioned. This is because this quality is not yet at a point that can convince the nation itself.

"We will discuss it specifically later, we will have a special meeting, why should we take foreign workers," he added.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan admitted that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had been appointed as the head of the acceleration team for the development of the State Capital or IKN Nusantara.

He also promised that on August 17, 2024, the commemoration of Indonesia's 79th Birthday could be carried out in the courtyard of the State Palace of IKN Nusantara.

Luhut admitted that he would employ foreign nationals (WNA) aka foreigners as a supervisory team. This is because he does not want the construction of the State Palace, which has a limited time, to be done carelessly.
