YOGYAKARTA - The Center for Standardization and Services of the Skin, Rubber and Plastic Industry (BBSPJIKKP) of the Ministry of Industry held Technical Guidance for the Preparation of the Manual of the Halal Product Guarantee System (SJPH) for small and medium industries (IKM) in Yogyakarta as an effort to accelerate the strengthening of the halal ecosystem.

"This activity is an effort to accelerate and strengthen the halal ecosystem, and facilitates small industries in proposing halal product certification," said Head of BBSPJIKKP of the Ministry of Industry, Hagung Eko Pawoko, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 8.

The activity, which was held in collaboration with the Center for Halal Industrial Empowerment (PPIH) of the Ministry of Industry, as well as the Department of Industry and Trade throughout the DIY Province, was attended by participants of 150 small and medium industries (IKM) from the Yogyakarta and Sleman cities.

"Efforts from this activity are in line with the expectations of a competitive national industry, and are expected to strengthen the halal 'value chain' as an effort to carry out Indonesia's role as an important part of the global halal 'value chain'," he said.

He said, in the halal certification process, there were three institutions that played an important role, namely the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH), the Halal Examining Agency (LPH) and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). BBSPJIKKP has an LPH as a Product Halal Audit Institute supported by a competent halal auditor.

Eko said, from the grouping of IKM with similar commodities, it can be encouraged to become a halal IKM center. And the benefits of the halal IKM center itself are the ease and integrated planning, implementation, facilitation and supervision of the halal industry.

"Halal SENTRA IKM will be a one-stop halal service that will be replicated to all IKM in Indonesia. In the halal IKM center there will be LPH, packaging houses, joint halal production houses, as well as a halal management team that assists IKM in the center for the implementation of SJPH, as well as training for IKM halal investigators," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of PPIH of the Ministry of Industry, Mohammad Ari Kurnia Taufik, said that with experience as the leading sector in implementing the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) industry, the Ministry of Industry believes that it will play a major role in the Halal Product Guarantee System (SJPH) in the future.

"And until 2022, the Ministry of Industry has provided halal industry certification assistance to 1,140 industrial companies, and for 2023, the Ministry of Industry has allocated assistance to 2,000 industrial companies," he said.

In addition, he said, to facilitate data collection and selection for halal industry certification assistance in 2023, the Ministry of Industry has built a Halal Industry Data Collection Information System, or called SALIHA.

Therefore, industry players and industry development agencies can register the industry for prospective halal industry certification recipients by accessing the system page, namely http://saliha.kemenperin.go.id/.
