Modified Economic Train Firm Chair, KAI: There Are Four Carriages Already

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI does seats for non-commercial (commercial) economic class trains. Chairs that were previously upright are now similar to executive classes. This is also widely discussed on social media.

VP of Public Relations KAI confirmed that currently KAI is indeed modifying the train interior and its seat at Balai Yasa Manggarai. This modification is part of a program to improve services in economic class.

"At this early stage, there are already 4 economic train carriages that have been successfully modified," he told the media, Wednesday, May 31.

Through this modification, continued Joni, the number of seats that previously had a capacity of 80 seats is now 72 seats, giving a wider impression.

"Another advantage is that the seat can be driven (reclined) and rotated (revolving) like a seat on an executive train," he explained.

In addition, said Joni, the train interior is also added by the Public Information Display System (PIDS) which can display clocks and temperatures. The train interior is also moderately similar to the executive train such as baggage shape and brighter interior feel.

Not only that, continued Joni, modifications were also made on toilets with a more luxurious feel and using a sitting toilet.

Joni said that his operational plans will be combined for what train and when it is time, until now it is still under management study.

However, Joni said that for sure, in the near future, economic train customers will experience a different experience, and of course more comfortable.

"Through this modification, KAI is committed to continuing to improve its future services to make train travel safe, comfortable, and healthy," concluded Joni.
