Krakatau Steel Exports 30,000 Tons Of Steel To Italy

JAKARTA - PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk has again exported 30,000 MT of Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) to Italy for consumers of Marcegaglia Steel Carbon SPA today.

The delivery of this export was witnessed directly by the Indonesian Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan and his staff and the President Director of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk Purwono Widodo.

Indonesian Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan stated that in 2023, although export growth slowed down, Krakatau Steel became one of the heroes of export contributors in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Zulhas, as Zulkifli Hasan is familiarly called, said nationally, the steel industry is the third largest contributor to exports from Indonesia, number one is coal and number two is palm oil.

"We are grateful to these red and white fighters who were able to increase the export value of steel so that our surplus yesterday was the highest during the history of total exports in Indonesia which reached almost Rp900 trillion or the equivalent of 54 billion US dollars," he said.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk Purwono Widodo said that with this export shipment to Italy, Krakatau Steel contributed to increasing the country's foreign exchange by Rp315 billion or equivalent to US$21.15 million.

"With the addition of capacity so that total production reaches 5,600,000 tons per year, we continue to open up opportunities for domestic needs and 30 percent for the export market, especially for the European region where Krakatau Steel has been recognized there," said Purwono.

For your information, Krakatau Steel Group is recorded to have exported a total of 393,503 tons in 2022. As of April 2023, Krakatau Steel has exported 80,802.78 tons. So far, the export destination countries of Krakatau Steel are Italy, Portugal, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Spain, and Pakistan.

This is proof that domestic steel products can compete well even in developed countries in Europe. We will continue to improve the quality of our products so that more Krakatau Steel Group steel products will be absorbed for domestic steel needs and export steel needs," continued Purwono.

Purwono received support from the government in connection with increasing the utilization of the domestic steel industry.

"Hopefully in the future Krakatau Steel can always present quality steel products for industrial progress in Indonesia and to meet steel needs in the world," concluded Purwono.
