JAKARTA Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 fulfilled the invitation of Commission III of the DPR to provide clarification regarding the alleged Money Laundering (TPPU) crime within the Ministry of Finance.

On that occasion, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD and PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana were also present. It was stated that PPATK found suspicious transactions worth Rp. 349 trillion at the Ministry of Finance which contained 300 letters.

For this case, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani explained that her party only received 200 letters with the stated value of Rp. 275 trillion.

Meanwhile, 100 letters worth Rp74 trillion were immediately sent by PPATK to Law Enforcement Officials (APH) without being copied to the Ministry of Finance.

Therefore, Sri Mulyani's ranks only followed up on 200 letters that were sent directly to the Ministry of Finance because they felt they did not know the contents of the other 100 letters.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD and Head of PPATK talked about suspicious transactions of Rp35 trillion. Where did this figure come from?

The value of Rp35 trillion came from some of the letters sent by PPATK directly to APH and some of the letters sent directly to the Ministry of Finance.

Here Sri Mulyani does not budge and only responds to 200 letters sent to her ministry.

Furthermore, of the 200 letters received by the Ministry of Finance, there were 65 letters worth Rp253 trillion containing company operational transactions related to Customs and Excise duties and the Directorate General of Taxes. Meanwhile, rumors about the export of 'hot gold' Customs of Rp189 trillion are included in this section.

Then, 135 other letters (the rest of the 200 letters sent to the Ministry of Finance) with a figure of IDR 22 trillion were the part that became the focus of Sri Mulyani Cs.

The state treasurer then sorted again out Rp22 trillion, which was related to corporations amounting to Rp18.7 trillion.

"Yang Rp18,7 triliun adalah transaksi debit kredit operasional korporasi dan orang pribadi yang tidak terafiliasi dengan pegawai Kemenkeu," kata Sri Mulyani di Kompleks Parliament Senayan, Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the remaining Rp22 trillion after deducting corporate transactions of Rp18.7 trillion was Rp3.3 trillion.

The amount of Rp3.3 trillion is really held by Sri Mulyani. Why is that? First, Sri Mulyani assumed that Rp3.3 trillion was a value that directly included the names of the Ministry of Finance employees in the PPATK letter.

Second, Rp3.3 trillion is the figure stated in the PPATK letter which was sent directly to the Ministry of Finance.

"The value of IDR 3.3 trillion is an accumulation of employee credit debt transactions, including official income, transactions with family, and selling/buying assets for a period of 15 years (2009 to 2023) which has been followed up," said Sri Mulyani.

As for all 200 letters received by the Ministry of Finance from PPATK, as many as 186 letters are claimed to have been followed up with the results of 193 employees subject to disciplinary penalties and 9 employees submitted to law enforcement officials.

Just so you know, PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana in a meeting with Commission III of the DPR on Wednesday, March 29 explained that there was a suspicious transaction of Rp35 trillion.

He said, the Ministry of Finance then issued the figure based on what was related to corporate entities and employees to Rp22 trillion.

Ivan said that the Ministry of Finance then issued a corporation that did not have employees of the Ministry of Finance to Rp3.3 trillion.

Then it is crowded if PPATK is wrong and all kinds of things. However, the reason why PPATK provides data on the names of individuals plus the company, because we found that these companies are shell companies owned by unscrupulous persons. So, this company data cannot be released or separated from the data of the person earlier," said Ivan.
