BPKP Not Approving Former KRL Imports From Japan, This Is The Response Of The Ministry Of SOEs

JAKARTA - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has spoken about the results of an audit by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) which does not recommend imports of used electric rail (KRL) from Japan.

Special Staff to the Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga said that his party would find the best solution to be able to meet the carrying capacity of KRL passengers.

Given that a number of train series must retire this year and next year.

Currently, said Arya, the Ministry of SOEs and related parties are continuing to discuss a number of alternatives. One of them is repairing and utilizing the train carriage owned by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) at this time.

"Looking for the best solution, will the existing (train carriages) be empowered later, will the existing ones be repaired and so on," he said when met at the Ministry of SOEs building, Thursday, April 6.

Regarding the plan to repair the train carriages that currently have to retire, Arya ensures that safety aspects remain a priority.

"Keep maintaining the safety aspect. Because the main transportation is a safety factor," he explained.

The plan to import 10 series of KRL stalled after the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) recommended that the government reconsider it.

Arya said, BPKP considers that the current capacity of the KRL carriage filling is still sufficient to meet the needs of passengers. So that BKP noted that this import plan needs to be considered.

At first glance, they saw that there were still some carriages being used, there were several points but I'll see the details later. There are several alternatives, yes, there are also those that are less congested, for example, the trains are diverted to the dense ones," concluded Arya.

Previously, Deputy Minister of BUMN II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that he had not yet decided whether the plan to import the former electric train (KRL) from Japan would be canceled. The reason, he said, this decision must be considered properly.

Regarding the report from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) which stated that the imports of KRL from Japan did not meet the criteria, he said he had not received the documents.

"I don't know yet (it was canceled), we don't know yet. Because I haven't seen the report yet. Because we have to see that this is important, so there are two, both are running," he told reporters, Wednesday, April 5.
