Regarding The 2023 Lebaran Toll Rate Discount, Minister Basuki: Again Reviewed By BUJT

JAKARTA - The Ministry of PUPR is still waiting for initiatives from Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) regarding price discounts or toll rates, to support the smooth running of the 2023 Eid holiday.

"Not yet from the association. Usually, right, they (BUJT) are proposing discounts," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono to reporters after being met at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 4.

Basuki said that the BUJTs are currently reviewing the plan to provide discounts on toll rates. "BuJT is currently reviewing it to be able to apply because we cannot determine, later intervention, right, investment," he said.

On the other hand, Spokesperson for the Ministry of PUPR Endra S. Atmawidjaja said the initiative to propose a discount on toll rates was related to the level of services (service rates) of the toll road entrepreneurs themselves.

According to Endra, the BUJT are currently taking into account the problems of repairs to the toll road, so they are still reviewing this matter.

"The point is that it is usually related to if there is an improvement, they will calculate it first, if there is an improvement, right, of course it will disturb comfort, BUJT usually directly conveys toll rates," he said.

"That's because their services are reduced, there are some for example on the Kayu Agung-Palembang Toll Road, there are improvements, right, the comfort is reduced. Usually, BUJT's initiative (toll tariff discount) is because it concerns toll road entrepreneurship," he said.

According to Endra, the issue of toll tariff discounts does not have regulations or permanent regulations, so it cannot determine or encourage BUJTs to provide discounts on these prices.

"That is indeed a voluntary act, which we do not regulate through the Toll Road Concession Regulation (PPJT), there is only a decrease in level, so they must provide compensation," he concluded.
