JAKARTA - The Capital Authority (IKN) of the Archipelago has officially opened a voting period for the new IKN Nusantara logo.

There are a total of five logo finalists that can be chosen by the public. These five logos are the choice of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Head of the IKN Authority, Bambang Susantono, invited the public to participate in determining the IKN logo as the new capital city of Indonesia.

"The capital city of the archipelago belongs to and is the pride of all Indonesian people and was built for the progress of the Indonesian nation, therefore I invite all members of the Indonesian people to be involved in contributing to the capital city of this new country by choosing the logo that is most appropriate for the capital city of the archipelago," said Bambang in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 4.

It is planned that the logo chosen by the Indonesian people will be announced directly by President Joko Widodo at the end of May 2023 in the capital city of Nusantara.

"Desainer whose logo work was selected with the most votes and designated as the official logo of the capital city of Nusantara will get a prize of Rp. 185 million," he said.

Not only designers, Bambang said that 10 voters from the lucky community will also be given gifts in the form of electric motorcycles signed by President Jokowi.

Meanwhile, BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar said that his party was proud to be able to provide support for the IKN Nusantara logo selection activities and become part of the nation's history.

"BNI's support in this logo selection activity is a form of our commitment to contribute to the capital city transfer project in order to accelerate Indonesia's economic growth evenly," said Royke.

In the first phase, around 500 designers from all over Indonesia participated in this event.

Of the 500 designers interested, ADGI then chose 10 designers who became finalists and had the right to create a new logo design for IKN Nusantara.

The initial stage selection is by open call to all ADGI members.

It consists to be curated through a portfolio that they submit with mandatory criteria, including being a professional graphic designer for at least 10 years and having experience in working on visual identity projects.

Through the screening based on the above conditions by the ADGI curatorial board, 10 finalist designers were selected.

Then, the 10 finalist logo works were submitted by OIKN to the President of the Republic of Indonesia to be selected for 5 logos announced to the public.
