JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) as Upstream Subholding through the Upstream Innovation function collaborates with Gadjah Mada University (UGM) for technology development and knowledge sharing in the field of geophysics, in terms of exploration & exploitation of oil and natural gas.

This collaboration was marked by the handover of a Study Authority Certificate by the FMIPA UGM represented by the Dean of the FMIPA UGM Kuwat Triyana with the representative of the Upstream Innovation PHE Freddy Yulisasongko, as the Senior Specialist for Geophysics Innovation Upstream Innovation PHE, some time ago.

Freddy Yulisasongko said the background of cooperation with UGM was due to research on technological innovation of FMIPA UGM in the field of non-seismic geophysics (method of electromagnetics) which was quite advanced and developed rapidly, both on laboratory scales and implementation in the field.

"From the beginning, UGM was very strong in (fields) non seismic geophysics and through this collaboration, we not only left work and only did quality control, but we were also involved in the process with the technical team from start to finish," Freddy said in his official statement, quoted on Saturday, April 1.

Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the technology research carried out can support PHE's operational activities, especially in the field of oil and gas exploration and exploitation.

Research on technological innovation that will be carried out on the PHE field includes technological innovations Controlled Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) and Clean Technology Self Potential-Electrical Resistivity Tomography (SP-ERT).

CSEM is a technological innovation using the electromagnetic method used to detect the presence of a hydrocarbon layer on the subsurface. Meanwhile, SP-ERT is a technological innovation for real-time monitoring water injection and is automated in data recording around injection wells.

"The implementation of technological innovation research will be carried out starting from a laboratory scale and directly tested in the PHE field," said Freddy.
