Sandiaga Uno: There Are 11 Airlines That Open Direct Flight Routes From 7 Countries To 4 Cities In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno revealed that there are 11 airlines that have opened direct flight routes from 7 countries to four cities in Indonesia. "Meanwhile, the four cities in Indonesia are Jakarta, Denpasar, Medan and Makassar go home (PP). Sandiaga also welcomes this as a form of recovery in Indonesia's tourism and creative economy sectors, so as to bring in foreign tourists (tourists) and open 4.4 million jobs in 2024. The 11 airlines that open direct flights are Garuda Indonesia, KLM Royal Dutch, Emirates, Etihad, Lion, Mentari Airlines group, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines.

As previously reported, Sandiaga Uno reported to President Joko Widodo that foreign tourist visits (tourists) in the first quarter of 2023 reached 20 percent above the target.

"This year's target has been doubled to 7.4 million tourists and this first quarter has reached 20 percent above the target," Sandi told media crews within the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Wednesday, after a meeting with President Jokowi.

However, Sandi did not reveal in detail the number of foreign tourist visits that Indonesia had currently recorded.

Based on a report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) on March 1, 2023, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia reached 735.95 thousand in January 2023, an increase of 503.34 percent compared to 121.98 thousand visits in January 2022.

Sandi said that the revival of foreign tourist visits could not be separated from the increase in the number of tourism activities and the creative economy in Indonesia.
