Former KRL Imports Can't Be Implemented, KAI President Director: Wait For BPKP Study Results

JAKARTA - The plan of PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) to import used electric rail (KRL) from Japan has not been implemented.

This is because KCI is still waiting for the results of a study from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BKPK).

KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo said, based on the results of the meeting on March 6, the plan to import a former KRL from Japan is currently still in the process of reviewing the BPKP.

"So the result of the meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries on March 6 states that the KRL import process is not only now in the review stage by BPKP," he said in a meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, Monday, March 27.

Didiek said the KCI and BPKP teams had met with a team in Japan that supplies KRL to Indonesia.

In fact, we have seen firsthand the condition of the used KRL that will be imported.

"The train to be imported is still operating today. So that what is the meeting record at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is an evaluation by BPKP," he explained.

Therefore, continued Didiek, his party is still waiting for the BPKP review to be completed to decide on the plan to import the former Japanese KRL.

"So that at this time we PT KCI and KAI are waiting for the results of the review from BPKP," he explained.
