JAKARTA - President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin was appointed as Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI) for Aviation and Aerospace.

Awaluddin said that MTI will synergize and collaborate with actors in the national aviation sector to be able to encourage the development and strengthening of the domestic aviation industry.

Awaluddin currently serves as President Director of AP II for the second period with the task of managing 20 airports including Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which is the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia.

He explained that the development of the national aviation sector must be in line with social development in the community.

"Social social life is developing towards smart society and the aviation sector must be able to accommodate this. This Smart Society encourages the aviation sector to implement smart aviation," he said.

Furthermore, he said that the smart aviation can be realized through a humanist smart technology approach.

"This humanist smart technology approach will give birth to innovations that are centered on the need for increased human civilization or we are known as technology-based society," said Awaluddin.

MTI, he said, together with all stakeholders will strive to strengthen the development of the national aviation industry in order to continue to provide benefits to the people of Indonesia.

Previously, MTI inaugurated the central board and professional assembly and ethics for the 2022-2025 service period in Jakarta, Wednesday. The Chairperson of the 2022-2025 MTI is Tory Damantoro and Chairman of the 2022-2025 MTI Professional and Ethics Council, namely Agus Taufik Mulyono.

The inauguration of the MTI management today was also attended by the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi. The Minister of Transportation said that MTI is a think tank institution that always supports strengthening the national transportation system.

"We really need ladies and gentlemen (MTI) to provide notes (to strengthen national transportation)," said the Minister of Transportation in his remarks.

Meanwhile, Tory said that MTI is a partner of the government in determining transportation-related policies.

"MTI prepares and opens the door as wide as possible to synergize with all parties, synergize with the government, synergize with associations, with universities and with all transportation stakeholders, in accordance with our motto of'synergy to color Indonesia's transportation progress'," said Tory.

Meanwhile, Agus said that MTI will also encourage the development of human resources in the transportation sector.

"The MTI Professional and Ethics Council has two duties, namely professional development and supervision. Professional development to assist programs in the field of transportation," said Agus.

Agus also said that MTI has prepared competency certificates for transportation experts in Indonesia.

The Central Executive of MTI 2022-2025 has also formed eight forums, namely urban transportation, sea transportation, air transportation, rail transportation and intercity transportation, smart transportation, logistics transportation, environmental transportation and energy as well as transportation and infrastructure financing forums.

"The MTI Air Transport Forum will help the national aviation sector to continue to develop sustainably towards even higher levels and have competitiveness at the global level," said Awaluddin.
