The government through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) stated that the food and beverage (mamin) industry is one of the main motors in the growth of the non-oil and gas processing sector.

Director General of Agro Industry of the Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika said that in 2022 GDP the food and beverage industry grew by 4.90 percent with a contribution of 38.35 percent or the largest in GDP for the non-oil and gas processing industry.

In addition, he said last year the sector was included in the top five industries with the highest export contribution with a value of up to 48.61 billion US dollars.

"As one of the priority industries in the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, the acceleration of the application of industry 4.0 to the mamin industry is estimated to be able to increase the potential output value and productivity of industrial workers by up to 30 percent," he said in an official statement quoted on Sunday, March 19.

According to Putu, to support this, his party has issued Minister of Industry Regulation Number 21 of 2020 concerning Measurement of Industrial Readiness Levels in Transformation Towards Industry 4.0 as a guide for industrial readiness in carrying out industrial transformation 4.0.

"The application of digital transformation has been able to provide various positive benefits, including reducing product defects, increasing production capacity, increasing sales, and reducing energy ratios as much," he said.

On the same occasion, the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Food and Beverage Producers Association (Gapmmi), Adhi S. Lukman, revealed that Indonesia has great potential to compete in the food and beverage industry.

"Therefore, digital transformation is needed as a way to compete globally," he said.

Adhi added that many business actors are currently encouraging their business process to be more effective by utilizing 4.0 technology.

"Hopefully this can be an inspiration for other food and beverage producers," he said.
