JAKARTA - Indonesian household appliances have managed to print a potential transaction of US$3.04 million or around Rp47.02 billion at the The Inspired Home Show (IHS) exhibition, at McCormick Place, Chicago, United States.
The JCI exhibition is the largest furniture and household appliances exhibition in the United States (US) which will be held from March 4 to 7, 2023.
Director General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) Didi Sumedi said this achievement was the first step to increase exports to the US market.
"It is hoped that Indonesian business actors can take advantage of the momentum to continue to penetrate the market, especially during the post-COVID-19 economic recovery period," he said in an official statement, Friday, March 10.
Meanwhile, Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center Chicago Iska Huberta Sinurat said the JCI exhibition was a very promising trade show for participants from Indonesia.
Furthermore, Iska said that with the increasingly controlled COVID-19 pandemic and improving world supply chains, Indonesian products were more efficient and highly competitive.
"This can be seen from the JCI trade transaction this time reaching 3.04 million US dollars. This value has increased by almost 30 percent compared to 2022 which amounted to 2.37 million US dollars," said Iska.
Iska explained that this trade exhibition presented eight Indonesian companies, including Aninda Furniture, Aryasena, Billstone, Indomop (Clean Matic), Canela, Inspira (Infinia), Umbra Prasia, and Multi Creative Furnindo (MKF).
The household appliance products that are displayed include wood utensils, natural and synthetic rattan baskets, automatic watches, household cleaning equipment, as well as goods that are divided from various locations throughout Indonesia with various unique designs but still efficient.
During the four days of the exhibition, continued Iska, the Indonesian Pavilion received a very positive response and was visited by more than 187 potential buyers.
Visitors to the Indonesian Pavilion not only come from the US, but also from foreign countries such as Mexico, Canada, Argentina, South Korea, France, and the Netherlands. The most popular Indonesian Pavilion products are wood utensils, broken goods, synthetic and natural rattan baskets, as well as cleaning products," explained Iska.
Indonesian Products Have Good Quality
Meanwhile, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia Chicago Meri Binsar Simorangkir revealed that Indonesia has great potential in the JCI because Indonesian products have excellent quality at very competitive prices.
"This participation is very useful for introducing quality Indonesian-made household products to the international community," said Meri.
Furthermore, Meri hopes that the international community can see and discuss directly with household appliances producers. In addition, it can expand the network to a more concrete stage of cooperation in the future.
Based on data from the Global Trade Atlas 'S&P Global, in 2022, the value of American imports for household appliances products from the world reached US$670 billion, an increase of 8.82 percent from 2021.
