JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga stated that the use of digital payment transactions for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) including market traders and stalls will facilitate access to the banking sector.

In education on Digitalization of Markets, Stalls and MSMEs in East Java in Malang City, East Java, Thursday, March 9, Jerry said that one of the digital payment systems that MSMEs and traders can use is Quick Response Indonesian Standard (QRIS).

"This QRIS is for digitizing payment tools, which will provide convenience for traders," he said, quoted from Antara.

Jerry explained that the use of QRIS for digital payment systems by MSME players, market traders and shop business owners in Indonesia could make it easier for these business actors to apply for access to bank credit.

According to him, when MSMEs or traders will apply for credit to the banking sector, cash flow and financial administration are important considerations.

"With digital payments, it will be neater and more structured and more transparent," he said.

He added that one of the important things for the government to do for MSME players, including market traders, is that the digital payment socialization step is increasingly known to the public.

Support from the banking sector, he continued, is also important for the sustainability of MSME businesses, market traders and stalls in Indonesia.

The Ministry of Trade continues to encourage collaboration between the banking sector and the small business actors.

"The Ministry of Trade must collaborate with the financial sector. Because this is an ecosystem that must be supported by the banking sector," he said.

Meanwhile, Distribution Head 3 of PT Bank BTPN Syariah Andi Leon added that the banking sector provides full support for existing MSME actors. There are a number of programs prepared for these small business actors.

"Our alignment with MSMEs is a priority, there are three programs that we run," he said.

The three programs are financial access in the form of providing access to capital for MSME players, market traders and stalls, increasing customer education and opening market access for MSMEs by utilizing digital platforms.

In the Malang Raya area which is a combination of Malang City, Malang Regency and Batu City, BTPN Syariah has approximately 58 thousand customers, of which almost 90 percent are MSME actors.

"Our priority MSMEs, there are programs that we have prepared such as providing access to capital, education and access to markets in collaboration with digital platforms, pawnshops," he said.
