Minister Of Industry Agus Gumiwang: The Amount Of Car And Electric Bus Incentives Will Be Announced March 20

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the provision of electric vehicle incentives would be expanded, namely for cars and buses. According to him, the amount of incentives has been decided by the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu).

"(The amount of electric vehicle incentives) for motorbikes, cars, and buses has been decided, it has been decided by the minister," he told reporters at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Thursday, March 9.

Agus said that the scheme for providing incentives for cars and electric buses would be different from motorbikes.

Even so, he continued, announcements regarding the amount of incentives will be announced in the near future.

"On March 20, we launched (the amount of incentives) for all (electric vehicles)," he concluded.

Previously, Minister of Industry Agus had mentioned that the incentive for electric cars was estimated at Rp. 80 million, Rp. 40 million for the purchase of hybrid-based electric cars, and Rp. 5 million for motors to convert into electric motorcycles.

He said incentives would be given to car buyers or electric motorbikes from manufacturers that own factories in Indonesia.

The government is known to have decided the incentive value of electric motor vehicles of IDR 7 million per unit. This program has been stated in the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of the Battery-Based Electric Vehicle Program (KLBB).

Funding for electric vehicle incentives will be allocated from the State Budget (APBN). The distribution is carried out through two ministries, namely at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for conversion programs and at the Ministry of Industry for the purchase of new electric vehicles.
