No PPKM, KAI Pede This Year Tickets For Homecoming Trains Will Be Selling

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is confident that train sales for Lebaran homecoming will sell well as prepared. Given that the government is no longer implementing the policy of implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM).

Based on KAI data, as of Wednesday, March 8, tickets for medium and long-distance trains for Lebaran 2023 Transportation were sold as many as 299,782 seats out of a total of 1,129,389 seats provided.

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said the number of ticket sales will continue to move in line with the approaching Eid transportation period later. Moreover, said Joni, the government will no longer limit people's mobility.

"Certainly this year will be higher than last year, because last year's Eid transportation there were still restrictions on transport capacity," he told VOI, Wednesday, March 8.

Furthermore, Joni said that people's interest in using trains for Eid homecoming is very high. This can be seen from ticket sales which have reached 26 percent.

"This sale is for homecoming. Meanwhile, the return flow ticket has not yet been opened for the sale period," he explained.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Transportation predicts that as many as 123.8 million people will go home for Lebaran 2023. The mode of private car transportation is the favorite of travelers.

The prediction of the movement of the community is the result of a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation through the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT).

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya said that at the moment of Eid Al-Fitr 2023 homecoming, the mode of transportation used by the community was dominated by land modes. Masyarakay who went home with a private car was 22.07 percent or 27.32 million people. Then, motorcycles are 20.3 percent or 25.13 million people.

Then, continued Budi, at the moment of Lebaran 2023, many people also chose public transportation. People who go home with buses are predicted to be 18.39 percent or 22.77 million people.

"Then, intercity trains 11.69 percent or 14.47 million people and rental cars 7.7 percent or 9.53 million people," he told reporters, Tuesday, March 7.
