Fire, Here's The Profile Of The Pertamina Plumpang Depot That Distributes 20 Percent Of Fuel In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Pertamina Plumpang depot, which experienced a fire incident on Friday, March 3, is one of the vital national objects that has played 20 percent of the daily fuel needs in Indonesia and the need for 25 percent of Pertamina gas stations.

Quoted from Pertamina's official website, the Oil Fuel Terminal, which has been operating since 1974, has supplied a variety of fuel products ranging from Premium, Bio Solar, Dex, Dexlite, Pertamax, Pertalite and Pertamax Turbo through a world-class Automation System Terminal (TAS) commonly called the New Gantry System to the 249 tank car compartment.

It is known that TBBM Plumpang has a stockpiled tank capacity of 291,889 kiloliters (KL) and a mean Thruput BBM of 16,504 KL per day and its main distribution area, namely the Jabodetabek area.

The Plumpang BBM Terminal has also received worldwide recognition as one of the world's most efficient fuel storage tanks. At the 2018 2nd Global Tank Storage Award, the Pertamina Plumpang Depot was named the 2nd best after the Saudi Aramco Terminals in the category The Most Efficient Storage Terminal.

Meanwhile, in response to the fire incident at TBBM Plumpang, the Government asked Pertamina to conduct a risk analysis of all facilities owned.

"We ask Pertamina to analyze the risks of all facilities owned," said Head of the Communications, Public Information Service, and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Agung Pribadi in an official statement quoted Monday, February 6.

President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati admitted that she would rearrange every vital asset owned by Pertamina. This step was taken after identification was carried out at each point of its assets.

This step was taken following up on the order of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir who asked for a rearrangement in the national vital object area belonging to BUMN, after the fire that occurred at the Oil Fuel Terminal (TBBM) or Pertamina Plumpang Depot.

"This is also in accordance with the direction of the Minister of SOEs that it is not only the Plumpang (Pertamina Depot) but all of Pertamina's assets and other SOEs," he said at Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP), Jakarta, Saturday, March 4.
