JAKARTA Bank Indonesia (BI) West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Representative Office is said to fully support the 2023 World Super Bike (WSBK) event at the Mandalika Circuit which will be held on March 3-5.

Head of the BI NTB Representative Office Heru Saptaji said his party facilitated financial transactions during the agenda with the QRIS digital payment system.

"QRIS is here as a more practical payment solution for the community and merchants," he said in a written statement on Friday, March 3.

According to Heru, QR code technology has been able to serve various digital payment applications that have obtained permits in Indonesia. Bank Indonesia's presence at the World Super Bike event increasingly supports the achievement target of 45 million users and 1 billion QRIS transactions nationally this year.

"This also plays an important role in introducing QRIS to MSME players who participate in the 2023 WSBK motorcycle racing event," he said.

Heru added that the prestigious annual event was considered strategic enough to encourage financial literacy and socialization to MSMEs.

"We believe digital payments will make transactions easier so that they can boost the large circulation of money during WSBK. This of course adds to the benefits for the economy of the province of West Nusa Tenggara," he stressed.

On the same occasion, the government-owned company PT ITDC Nusantara Xplorin expressed similar support for the successful implementation of the World Super Bike 2023.

Xplorin President Director Gemma Pratama revealed that the synergy with Bank Indonesia is in line with the company's mission to develop the tourism industry digitally.

"We provide convenience for visitors, especially foreign tourists, who do not have an account in Indonesia so that they can still transact during the event," he said.

Gemma explained that this digital transaction service initiative is also part of the QRIS-based Non-Cash 100 percent Movement program.

"We hope that the Non-cash Movement can encourage an increase in the number of users and transactions using QRIS-based digital payment services, especially in the NTB area," he said.

For information, the 2023 WSBK Indonesia event is projected to be a special attraction for tourists to visit. This event also involved 200 MSMEs which are expected to accelerate local economic recovery.
