JAKARTA - The National Aviation Airlines Association (Inaca) formed an Expert Council whose personnel have various scientific backgrounds, both from the government, the private sector, and the public, which can later become a bridge to find various solutions to problems in the aviation industry.

"We will periodically hold meetings to discuss various problems in the aviation industry, such as the aviation price, which is considered still expensive and later we will convey it to ministries and institutions," said Inaca Chairman Denon Prawiraatmadja to the press after the Inaca Management Coordination Meeting as well as the inauguration of six members of the Expert Council in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, March 3.

It is said that members of the Expert Council may increase their personnel if it is possible and necessary, such as for example removing personnel from the military.

Denon said various problems in the national aviation industry currently need serious attention and solutions from various parties and all stakeholders, and cannot only be resolved by their own associations, or the government/institution, or the private sector, in this case airlines.

He admitted that for years various problems in the aviation industry have always encountered the same obstacles, but after each time a seminar, meeting, or coordination meeting was held, he never found a solution, so the time is now more intensified, including the formation of the Expert Council.

"The national aviation industry is currently growing well after the COVID-19 pandemic is increasingly sloping, so we need to immediately take concrete steps to develop this industry," he added.

For example, one of the obstacles faced by the aviation industry is that if an airplane is owned by one of the airlines, damaged spare parts and must be imported from producing countries, it is necessary to have a long licensing chain involving a number of ministries and institutions.

"Once again, we want to work together to find a solution so that this industry can grow well, especially since air transportation in Indonesia is very strategic and important considering the geographical location consisting of islands," he said.

Secretary General Inaca Bayu Sutanto said the pandemic conditions were gradually easing and the government's lifting of the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in December 2022 made the aviation industry slowly recover.

This condition made the number of air passengers soar sharply because many people had traveled by air after more than 2 years of being forced not to fly for various reasons.

"On the other hand, the capacity that flight operators such as airlines, airports and other stakeholders can provide is slightly hampered because it is still affected by the pandemic which reduces cash flow and operator economy," said Bayu.

Airlines have lost many aircraft that are ready to operate for various reasons, such as being returned to lessors (aircraft drivers), are still under treatment, to repair.

The airline's efforts to add aircraft that are ready to operate experience several obstacles, such as negotiations with lessors that are running slowly, managing expensive and long-term imports of spare parts in customs accompanied by high taxes.
