Despite Being Sued, Jokowi Went To Young Entrepreneurs: Don't Be Afraid To Downstream Industry!

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo emphasized that he is not afraid to downstream the industry for added value. Even though there is a lawsuit addressed to Indonesia.

"Even though we are currently in the appeal process being sued by the WTO, we will continue, never turn, we are afraid," said the President quoting Antara, Monday, February 20.

This was conveyed by the President in his direction at the inauguration of the Central Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) for the 2022-2025 term of service in Jakarta.

He said the downstream industry provides a very large added value, for example, the electric vehicle battery ecosystem and the electric automotive industry.

"For this EV (electronic vehicle), if it runs, it can run everywhere. Because the supporting industry to help the industry (EV) will produce medium and small economies that are very beneficial for us (Indonesia)," he said.

He emphasized that the challenge of downstreaming the industry is not easy, but Indonesia will still not stop.

"We will continue. And I ask all Hipmi members who have nickel mines, whether bauxite, whether copper, whether tin, whether gold, start to get ready. Because I make sure we stop everything, we stop, we stop, we stop," he said.
