JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (Dirjen IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) noted that the real estate and construction sectors experienced growth of 2.78 percent and 2.81 percent respectively (yoy) throughout 2022.

The development of building materials needs is known to continue to increase in line with the improvement of the property and construction sector during the recovery period for the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In addition, indications of increasing the use of building materials in Indonesia can also be seen from the 2022 RAPBN budget structure, where infrastructure ranks 3rd with a large budget of IDR 384.8 trillion," said the Director of Food, Furniture and Building Materials IKM (PFBB) of the Ministry of Industry Yedi Sabaryadi in a press release, quoted on Monday, February 6.

Yedi said, when viewed from the export side of imports, the export performance of non-metallic excavated goods including building goods, increased in 2021. However, in the same period, the import value of the non-metal collection industry also increased sharply by 34.8 percent.

In the last five years, the import value has always been higher than the export value, which indicates that the domestic market is still filled with export goods.

"Despite export and import data, if you look at the opportunity to contribute to IKM for building materials in the domestic market, there are several building materials produced by IKM that can increase market penetration," he said.

Based on a study conducted by the Director General of IKMA in 2022, data on the five most dominant materials were used in infrastructure projects, including cement, crafts, bricks, ceramics, including derivative products for building materials, such as readymixes and concrete bones.

"From the results of the survey in the study, it was stated that IKM building materials played a role in the procurement of building materials for their projects," explained Yedi.

He explained that in 2021, his party will have a nomenclature of the Directorate of Food IKM from Kayu and Furniture and now its nomenclature has changed to the Directorate of Food and Furniture IKM and Building Materials (PFBB).

This change indicates that his staff has a new task to foster IKM for building materials. Until now, the Directorate of IKM PFBB itself has implemented several programs related to IKM for building materials.

"The first flagship program is the study of the potential for development and development of the building materials industry. Broadly speaking, this study resulted in dominant material information used by infrastructure development projects and the typology of Indonesian building materials, thus producing several proposed coaching programs from various strategic aspects," explained Yedi.

These efforts are certainly welcomed by IKM businessmen who are members of the HUNI. The General Chairperson of HUNI Sudrajat said that his party really appreciated the government's steps that continue to encourage the development of IKM for building materials in the country.

Therefore, all HUNI members are ready to play an active role in infrastructure and housing development which is a government and private project in all corners of Indonesia.

"In line with government policies, HUNI is ready to play an active role in national strategic development and the development of various regions in Indonesia. Thus, HUNI can participate in developing Indonesia," he concluded.
