High Aviation Fee, The Minister Of Transportation Asks The Governor Of Southeast Sulawesi To Care For Avtur Terminal

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi suggested to the local government, namely the Governor of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) to build a special avtur terminal, aircraft fuel which is the main cause of high flight costs.

"Avtur as aircraft fuel is the main cause of high flight costs, and makes some airports not operating. Therefore, to facilitate the presence of an air transportation in the regions, local governments must prepare a special avtur terminal," said the Minister of Transportation, as conveyed by Assistant I of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government Muhammad Ilyas Abibu, quoting Antara.

According to Ilyas Abibu, the Minister of Transportation's statement to provide the avtur terminal was when Southeast Sulawesi Governor Ali Mazi and several echelon two officials met with the Minister of Transportation in Jakarta, K.

He said that there were four points of affirmation from the Minister of Transportation in the meeting, including the extension of the Botoambari Airport runway in Baubau.

The Minister of Transportation agreed to extend the runway. Then the ministry is ready to help with the budget in the 2023 fiscal year.

Meanwhile, Governor Ali Mazi said to develop Baubau City Betoambari Airport which is expected to support transportation on Buton Island. This is to support the readiness of investment in Buton asphalt later which is targeted to meet national asphalt.

He stated that the extension of the Botoambari Airport runway in Baubau was approved by the Minister of Transportation. Then the ministry is ready to help with the budget in the 2023 fiscal year.

In addition to the extension of the Betoambari Airport runway in Baubau, the Minister of Transportation also recommended Governor Ali Mazi to fix the land side of the airport and the South Sulawesi Provincial Government to find partners with the private sector.

He also explained about the direction of the Minister of Transportation regarding the development of Betoambari Baubau Airport. Avtur as aircraft fuel is the main cause of the high flight costs and makes several airports not operating. Related to that, the Minister of Transportation recommended Governor Ali Mazi to prepare a special terminal for avtur.

"Then the second thing being discussed is related to the avtur terminal at Betoambari Airport Baubau. Because one of the reasons for the high cost is the aviation fuel problem. It needs to be prepared, including in Wakatobi," he said.

The third is related to the flights of Wakatobi, Baubau, Kendari, and Makassar, Governor Ali Mazi has also conveyed to the Minister of Transportation that he will summon the Regent of Buton and the Mayor of Baubau to jointly subsidize the Kendari-Baubau route or vice versa.

"With the subsidy, it will provide opportunities for flights so that ticket rates are not too expensive or lowered," said Governor Ali Mazi.
