Pemerintah Pede Ekonomi Bisa Tumbuh 5 Percent Di 2023 Meskipun Dikreksi IMF

JAKARTA - The government through the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani is optimistic that Indonesia's economic growth can still be on track 5 percent by 2023 even though global conditions are believed to be experiencing a slowdown.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Finance in response to the projected economic growth of the Republic of Indonesia by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which was corrected down to 4.8 percent year on year (yoy).

Several international institutions do show between 4.7 percent and 5.3 percent. We see that the momentum for the 2023 recovery is still very strong," he said during a press conference on Tuesday evening, January 31.

The Minister of Finance explained that this belief was based on conditions in the fourth quarter of 2022 which tended to be stable with an estimated above 5 percent.

"For the first quarter of 2023 (it can be quite good) with the PPKM policy being opened and this can be stronger than 2022," he said.

The Minister of Finance added that in the second quarter of 2023, it will also receive acceleration from the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr which is expected to continue the trend of strengthening the national economy.

"This clearly raises a strengthening momentum for our economy which will continue to increase," he said.

Meanwhile, the government itself set a target for economic growth of 4.5 percent to 5.3 percent in 2023. The height of the figure set by the government shows that uncertainty is still continuing today.

"Therefore, this year's economic growth is expected to remain at 5 percent," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
