JAKARTA - Pertamina targets to implement the Dual Fuel (DDF) Diesel in 300 tank cars belonging to Pertamina by 2025.

Pertamina's Director of Logistics and Infrastructure Erry Widiastono said the use of DDF, which is a combination of diesel fuel and compresses Natural Gas (CNG), will become environmentally friendly energy that supports the energy transition policy.

"Pertamina targets to be able to implement DDF for 300 Tank Cars (MT) throughout Indonesia by the end of 2025," he told the media, Monday, January 30.

He added that the implementation of the DDF roadmap until 2025 was a synergy between PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PTPN) as the manager of the Logistics Tank and PT PGN Tbk. (PGN) as the provider of CNG.

"This year, it is targeted that 89 MT DDF will be operated in three major cities, namely the Integrated Terminal Jakarta, Semarang and Surabaya," said Erry.

In accordance with the roadmap, Pertamina targets to be able to implement DDF as much as 89 MT in 2023, followed by 2024 as many as 200 MT and in 2025 as many as 300 MT.

The potential for CNG to be utilized reaches 200 MMBTUD in 2023 and 450 MMBTUD in 2024 and 674 MMBTUD in 2025.

Erry added that the use of DDF fuel has several advantages, namely safe, environmentally friendly and more economical so that it can be used for logistics transport vehicles.

"Based on trials in the field, the DDF system provides efficiency of up to 30 percent and is more environmentally friendly because it produces 15 -20 percent lower carbon emissions compared to full use of fuel," said Erry.

Components in the DDF system have also been standardized nationally and internationally, including ISO 11439 standards for CNG tubes and installation test certification from the Ministry of Transportation.

"The security and reliability of this DDF system is guaranteed, so it is safe to use tank cars that transport fuel and LPG," concluded Erry.
