Prevent Unplanned Shutdown, Government Asks KKKS To Optimize Oil Potential

JAKARTA - The government has asked Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS), especially in the northern part of Sumatra, to optimize oil and gas potential, especially in exploration activities. Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji explained, the goal is that the G&G concept of the new oil and gas potential target can be finalized so that it can follow the success of the disclosure in several previous exploration wells.

"In addition to encouraging efficiency in existing operations by reducing the presence of an enhanced / planned shutdown, the Government asks the KKKS to immediately optimize oil and gas potential, one of which is in terms of exploration activities," he told the media quoted on Saturday, January 28.

Furthermore, the potential for existing fields, according to Tutuka, can be optimized through the application of further acquisition methods such as at Rantau Field with a waterfood program or in the form of optimizing the provisions of the KSO contract for operations at Perlak Field.

To support the development of oil and gas in North NAD and Sumatra, the Government will simplify the licensing process required by Contractors, including permits related to the environment or land acquisition.

The Director General of Oil and Gas also emphasized the need for attention to human resources (HR) in operating activities so that there is a balance in life.

Not only from the technical side that is pursued and developed, but also needs to be considered on the safety aspects of human resources in upstream oil and gas operations. Especially regarding setting lifestyles so that they work better too, this is important to balance work and life," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the SKK Migas Representative for the North Sumatra Region, Rikky Rahmat Firdaus, expressed his gratitude for the attention of the Director General of Oil and Gas in guarding activities in North Sumatra and appreciating the work of the KKKS. He also asked for support related to land acquisition and permits to support oil and gas operations.

Just so you know, the SKK Migas Sumbagut Region manages and oversees the activities of WK Hulu Migas for the North Sumatra Region, consisting of 5 WK Exploitation and 6 WK Exploration, where 2 WK Exploitation with production status (WK Pertamina EP Field Rantau and Pangkalan Susu, WK NSO). The realization of natural oil and condensate production during 2022 is in 4,732 BOPD, while the realization of natural gas production during 2022 is 130 MMSCFD.
