Encourage The Acceleration Of Ratification Of The PPRT Law, Minister Of Manpower Ida: Land For The Protection Of Household Workers

JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, said that accelerating the ratification of the Draft Law on the Protection of Domestic Workers (RUU PPRT) as a law, could be the legal basis for regulating and managing labor problems, especially protecting domestic workers or domestic workers.

"With this PPRT Law, we can solve these problems related to domestic workers and have a very clear legal basis," said Ida in an official statement, Tuesday, January 24.

Ida admitted that the government has a responsibility to support the PPRT Bill to become a law by prioritizing protection as an inseparable part of domestic sector workers.

"We want this protection to be really clear to those who work in the domestic sector," he said.

Therefore, Ida emphasized, collaboration in providing protection for PRT must start from upstream.

"If we can solve the problem of protecting household workers upstream, downstream will definitely follow," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Komnas HAM, AtINKe Nova Sigiro, appreciated the collaboration between Komnas HAM and the Ministry of Manpower.

He said that his party fully supports the government's commitment to accelerating the ratification of the PPRT Bill into law.

"Komnas HAM pays attention to vulnerable and marginal groups that have strong potential for human rights violations, both cultural and political economic rights," he said.
