JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) revealed that it has pocketed the name of a candidate to replace Chevron in the Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) oil and gas project.

"The main candidate IDD already exists and is in the process," said Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto in Jakarta as quoted on Friday, January 20.

He ensured that this agreement would be completed in the first quarter of 2023

"It is planned, because both parties have agreed, both Chevron and the KKKS candidate who want to take over that Q1 can be completed, can be obtained," continued Dwi.

He explained that currently the two parties are conducting due derivatives or due diligence and the replacement candidate for Chevron is still asking for data that must be completed by Chevron in the near future.

"There will also be a request to convince SKK Migas that there are no problems related to IDD assets and in Q1 there will be deals and can be closed," explained Dwi.

Previously, the IDD, which was originally held by Chevron, decided to leave Indonesia.

The investor left Indonesia due to the lack of investment in the upstream oil and gas sector.

Meanwhile, news was widely heard that the Italian oil and gas company, ENI, had officially taken over 62 percent of Chevron Pacific Indonesia's (CPI) participation rights at IDD.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif revealed that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had found a cooperation contract contractor (KKKS) who had the opportunity to shift Chevron's position. Namin Arifin was reluctant to provide details regarding the potential KKKS to replace the oil and gas company from the United States.

"There is already something fixed, just wait for the announcement," said Arifin on Wednesday, September 21.
