Gas Supply From JBT To Petrokimia Gresik, PGN: Carry Out The Task Of Supporting Pupuk Production

JAKARTA - PT PGN Tbk distributes natural gas to PT Petrokimia Gresik (PKG). This is marked by the initial distribution or natural gas in gas from Jambaran Tiung Biru (JTB) Field to PT Petrokomia Gresik on Monday, January 16.

PGN Director of Sales and Operations Faris Aziz said PKG would absorb natural gas of 15 to 17 MMSCFD.

In distributing gas from JTB Field, utilizing the Gresik Semarang Transmission Pipe managed by the Gas Subholding affiliate, namely PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas).

The distribution of gas to PKG is also part of PGN's move to carry out the government's assignment to support fertilizer production to support food security in Indonesia.

"At the same time, it is a support for the government in quantizing the Gresem Pipe and JTB Field which have recently been on stream," he said in a statement to the media, Thursday, January 19.

He added that the distribution of natural gas to PKG is PGN's commitment in implementing the Ministerial Decree of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 134K of 2021 in order to provide a stimulus for the fertilizer industry can stretch again.

Faris also said that Pertamina Group supports food security to maintain national economic growth.

Through the availability of natural gas which is more competitive and environmentally friendly in price is expected to support domestic fertilizer production and sustainable agricultural productivity.

In addition, it can encourage PKG competitiveness as a producer of fertilizers in Indonesia.

"In the future, natural gas services for the fertilizer sector will be further improved," he added.

Through the collaboration between the Gas Group Subholding with PKG some time ago, Pertagas has also signed an MoU to distribute gas to the development of a new fertilizer factory owned by PKG, both the need for natural gas supply, and the optimization of existing natural gas infrastructure.

"The distribution of natural gas to PKG is of strategic value to increase the expansion of the benefits of natural gas network through the Gresem Pipeline in 2023. Currently, until the future, PGN remains committed to providing natural gas for the fertilizer industry. In addition to supply, we must also maintain the reliability of gas infrastructure so that gas distribution to PKG is more guaranteed, effective, and efficient," concluded Faris.
