Krakatau Steel Holds An EGMS This Week, Who Is The Figure Of Substitute For Silmy Karim?

JAKARTA - The position of President Director of Krakatau Steel has been abandoned by Silmy Karim, along with his inauguration as Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in early January.

Following the vacant position at the helm, Krakatau Steel plans to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) on Wednesday, January 18.

The Corporate Secretary of Krakatau Steel Pria Utama confirmed that one of the agenda items at the EGMS was the approval of the composition of the Krakatau Steel management, including the change in the nomenclature of the position of a member of the company's board of directors.

Regarding the name of the candidate who will be proposed in the EGMS as a substitute for Silmy Karim, the Main Male said this is the authority of the shareholders, in this case the government, represented by the Ministry of SOEs.

"Of course there is a replacement (Silmy Karim). But the one who determines it is from the Ministry of SOEs," he said.

For your information, the position left by Silmy Karim was temporarily by Purwono Widodo as the President Director. Purwono previously served as Director of Business Development of Krakatau Steel.

As previously reported, Silmy Karim admitted that he had proposed the name of the prospective replacement to the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir.

"The name has been proposed to the Minister of SOEs and will be announced at the Extraordinary GMS on January 18, 2023," he said in a public expose of Krakatau Steel, Friday, December 30.

When asked how many names have been proposed, Silmy was reluctant to explain in more detail.

"That's the authority of the SOE minister," he said.
