Sandiaga Uno: Immigration Strategic Policy Determinates An Increase In The Number Of Tourists In The Indonesian Tourism Sector

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the strategic policy launched by the Directorate General of Immigration would have a significant impact on increasing the number of tourists in the tourism sector.

"With the reopening of international traffic in China, it is projected that there will be an increase in the arrival rate of foreigners," Sandiaga said in his official statement, Saturday, January 14.

Sandiaga said, currently the volume of international flights is getting higher. This year, it is targeted that as many as 7.4 million Indonesian entry and exit crossings are targeted.

Observing the existing potential, said Sandiaga, his party hopes that the world of Indonesian tourism will rise under the leadership of the new Director General of Immigration.

Responding to the statement, Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim stated that his party was coordinating with various parties to obtain positive results in improving services.

Silmy emphasized that his party must collaborate with stakeholders to publish Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) in various places that have the potential to encourage public exposure to immigration products.

"There are still many Foreign Citizens (WNA) who do not really understand the e-VOA mechanism. In fact, this is a practical and easy facility. We must jointly publish e-VOA, not only at the arrival and departure terminal, but in all places, maybe even on planes," he said.

Immigration also seeks all payments for immigration services, licensing, and even overstaying can be done online.

Regulation of the Minister of Finance (PMK) to underlie the implementation of the mechanism will also soon be submitted to the Ministry of Finance.

In addition to the transformation in terms of system, said Silmy, his party is also planning to execute the Golden Visa policy, in accordance with President Joko Widodo's direction.

Golden Visa will target foreigners from the middle to upper class, especially global businessmen and talents to contribute to building the national economy.

"My fellow immigration staff and I are carrying out the best efforts to be able to beautify the face of Immigration in the eyes of the world," he concluded.
