PALANGKA RAYA - The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government continues to monitor prices and stocks of various basic commodities in the midst of price fluctuations in the market to reduce the inflation rate.

"Currently, it has entered the second week of January, we continue to monitor the price and availability of bapok in districts and cities," said Head of the Central Kalimantan Food Security Service Riza Rahmadi as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 12.

Based on the price development of various bapok commodities on January 10-11, there have been fluctuations in the prices of a number of commodities in various regions, some have increased and some have decreased.

Riza explained, for West Kotawaringin Regency, chicken meat rose by Rp. 3,000, convex fish rose by Rp. 2,000, and milkfish decreased by Rp. 2,000. In Kapuas, convex fish decreased by Rp. 5,000, and in Seruyan, convex fish rose by Rp. 5,000.

Then Pulang Pisau kambung fish decreased by Rp. 15,000, milkfish fell by Rp. 2,000, cayenne pepper decreased by Rp. 10,000, shallots rose by Rp. 2,000, bulk cooking oil rose by Rp. 1,000 and tuna fish decreased by Rp. 10,000.

"The fluctuations in the prices of various commodities in various regions, according to Governor Sugianto Sabran's instructions, should continue to be considered by each district and city to prevent price spikes," he explained.

According to him, although until now the price fluctuations that have occurred in the market in various regions are still within reasonable limits, each local government is asked not to be careless, including paying attention to the smooth supply and availability of commodities.

"Based on the monitoring and information we have gathered, the current conditions on the market have no problems such as shortages, because the supply is smooth and availability is still safe," he said.

He emphasized that his party together with other relevant regional apparatus are also ready to suppress the inflation rate through market operations or market balancing to low-cost markets if necessary, as has been done in recent months.

Over the past few months, namely (year on year) control in Central Kalimantan has been successfully carried out with continued decline in inflation, starting in September 8.12 percent, then October 7.10 percent, to 6.97 percent in November, until finally at 6.32 percent in December 2022.
