Commemorating One Transformation Decade, Semen Indonesia Is Optimistic To Be The Largest Building Materials Provider In The Region

JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) is optimistic that it can become the leading provider of building materials in the region by continuing to strengthen collaboration in facing business challenges in the future.

President Director of GIS, Donny Arsal said, GIS, which has just commemorated the One Transformation Decade (January 7, 2013 January 7, 2023), was formed as a cement SOE that unites all forces in the region into national power.

On January 7, 2013, it became a historic moment with the change of name from Semen Gresik to Semen Indonesia, a symbol of integration and strengthening of cement SOEs in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Donny said, in a solid team collaboration, GIS was proven to be able to record positive performance and a series of brilliant achievements, amidst the various challenges faced throughout 2022, ranging from increasingly fierce competition to increasing production costs, mainly due to rising fuel prices.

According to him, one of the proud achievements that has been successfully inscribed is the success of additional capital actions through Pre-emptive Rights or the rights issue of GIS which is absorbed by 96.9 percent of the total transactions, both from the public and the state portion.

"SIG now has a very strong position, dominant in the domestic cement industry. But unfortunately, it also doesn't mean that our position is safe. Every year there will always be new challenges and it won't be easier. We can't expect that this industrial condition or competition will be easy, but it's us who have to be stronger," said Donny.

Previously, Deputy Minister of BUMN II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said, GIS is the largest cement SOE in Southeast Asia which has a major contribution to society and also Indonesia. Through its various innovations and transformation spirit, GIS as the largest building material solutions provider company in the region, is able to become a world-class SOE.

I also congratulate you on the achievements that have been achieved, especially by joining Semen Baturaja into the GIS, as well as the success of the Right Issue that has been made. Hopefully this achievement can strengthen the GIS Group in facing challenges in the cement industry.
