JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) noted that it has trained thousands of new entrepreneurs throughout 2022 through various programs to increase the entrepreneurial population in the country.

The Director General of Small, Medium, and Multifarious Industries at the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, said that the existence of new entrepreneurs in the small and medium industry sector has an important role in strengthening the national economy, especially in expanding opportunities to try and work to remote areas.

"As of the third quarter of 2022, we have coached 17,763 new entrepreneurs, a more than double increase compared to 2021 which reached 8,019 new entrepreneurs," Reni said in a press statement in Jakarta, quoted Thursday, December 5.

The Ministry of Industry has also facilitated 6,235 new entrepreneurs to obtain business legality. This figure has increased from 2021, which is only 5,330 entrepreneurs.

In the program, said Reni, the government provides technical guidance and facilitation of machinery or production equipment.

Reni hopes that this facility can encourage small and medium industry entrepreneurs in Islamic boarding schools in an effort to create new jobs and help support the acceleration of national economic recovery.

"We are also focused on encouraging entrepreneurs who have run their business, so that they continue to grow and develop through the technology business acceleration program," he said.

This program is in line with the Making Indonesia 4.0 program through the growth and development of technology-based small and medium-sized startups, namely entrepreneurs who prioritize product innovation and the use of technology in their businesses.
