Apindo Calls The Great Population Of Indonesia Will Be Topang Ekonomi Indonesia 2023

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Economic Policy Analyst Committee of the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) Ajib Hamdani said Indonesia's large population would support optimism for economic growth in 2023.

"Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) at the end of 2021 shows that Indonesia's population has reached 273,879,750, which is estimated to exceed 275 million by the end of 2022. In an economic ecosystem, the population is a market or demand. With large demand, consumption will be well maintained," he said in an official statement, quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 29.

The next potential economic growth is the abundance of natural resources and commodities where the government has taken the right steps by carrying out an economic transformation program by downstreaming or downstreaming, which can increase the added value of commodities.

The third potential is the power of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which is the main buffer for economic growth.

"MSMEs are business sectors that have a fast resilience or rise. If the government can provide maximum leverage in the MSME sector, then economic growth will be maintained and can even be accelerated more quickly," he said.

By comparing the existing side of problems or challenges, with the side of its economic potential, Indonesia still has many advantages entering 2023.

When global conditions have a negative effect after the pandemic, Indonesia can actually rise faster.

"Indonesia has a much greater potential than the existing challenges. The recession narrative will be marginalized with economic optimism," he added.
