YOGYAKARTA Prof. Profile. Subroto passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at around 16.25 WIB. He died at the age of 99 in Jakarta after undergoing treatment at RSPI Sulianti Saroso, North Jakarta.

Subroto's name and profile cannot be forgotten. He is noted to have held a number of important positions in the government in Indonesia. Not only recognized in Indonesia, Subroto's credibility is also recognized by the world.

Prof. Subroto is a man who was born in Kampung Sewu, Jebres, Surakarta, Central Java on September 19, 1923. Subroto is the seventh child of the couple Martosuignyo and the mother of Sindurejo.

Subroto was successfully accepted into the Academie Military (MA) in Yogya on November 1, 1945 and successfully graduated in 1948 with the best graduates II.

After graduating from a military academy, Subroto continued his education in other fields. He even received a Master of Arts degree fromtensic University, Canada in 1956.

In addition, Subroto received a Doctor's degree from the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia in 1958, and earned a Professor's degree from the UI Faculty of Economics in 1965. His expertise in economics made him appointed as an advisor in the Soeharto era.

In the New Order era, Subroto was quite instrumental in developing the Indonesian economy in the early era of the New Order. At that time he became a team with other figures, namely Prof. Dr. Widjojo Nitisastro, Prof. Dr. Emil Salim, Prof. Dr. Moh. Sadli, and Prof. Dr. Ali Wardhana,

Subroto's intelligence in the economic sector also makes him trusted to sit in several ministerial seats, namely as follows.

Career Prof. Subroto as an academic is a Professor of the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (UI).

Not only recognized in the country, Subroto was also appointed Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) for the 1984 period 1985. When he was Secretary General of OPEC, Subroto was nicknamed The Wise Minister Subroto from Indonesia because of his wisdom and vision in managing oil in OPEC countries.

One of the efforts that makes his name even more fragrant is his expertise in diplomacy and his ability to reduce disagreements between OPEC countries.

Subroto also briefly became the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Children's Foundation (YBAI) who established and managed plus schools for village children.

Quoted from oil and gas.esdm.go.id, the contribution of Prof. Dr. Subroto in the mining and energy sector, the Government carries his name to be the name of the highest award in the ESDM sector, namely Subroto Awards. The award was given starting in 2017 and given to figures who have the best performance in advancing the ESDM sector in the country.

As is known, Prof. Subroto died at the age of 99 years. From the information obtained by VOI, his body will be buried in the Chairul Saleh Building, the office of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources starting at 11.00 WIB until 15.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, the funeral will be held at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP) at 15.30 WIB.
