MANADO - Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative of North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) prepares cash funds of up to IDR 2.3 trillion ahead of the Christmas and New Year periods to meet the needs of the people in the area.

"The need for cash in North Sulawesi ahead of Christmas 2022 is IDR 2.3 trillion, an increase of 23.16 percent compared to the need for cash in 2021 of IDR 1.9 trillion," said Head of BI North Sulawesi Representative Andry Prasmoko, reported by Antara from Manado, Sunday, December 18.

He said the readiness of this fund consisted of large fractional money (UPB) of Rp2.2 trillion and small fractional money (UPK) of Rp116 billion.

The increase in the demand for cash, according to him, was in line with North Sulawesi's economic growth in the first quarter of 2022, which was 6.62 (yoy) higher than last year's growth of 4.16 percent (yoy).

He ensured that people's activities that were increasing, shopping centers, music concerts, entertainment activities, had increased the circulation of cash needs.

In addition, BI and banks are preparing new money for the 2022 fiscal year of IDR 100,000, IDR 50,000, IDR 20,000, IDR 10,000, IDR 5,000, IDR 2,000 and IDR 1,000 for the people of North Sulawesi in the celebration of Christmas-New Year 2022.

Overall, the need for cash in North Sulawesi in 2022 will reach IDR 8.8 trillion, an increase of 28.44 percent compared to the need for cash in 2021 of IDR 6.9 trillion.
